Hangzhou, China - (July 24, 2020) - Century, the world’s leading supplier of innovative EAS (Electronic Article Surveillance), RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) products, systems and solutions, is now launching a series ECO paper-based RFID sustainable labels, which are more environmentally friendly RFID labels which utilize paper rather than plastic.
All Century paper-based labels are produced by a revolutionary technology which makes the manufacturing process eco-friendlier, avoiding additional emissions and other harmful substances, reducing the company’s carbon footprint and making all products completely recyclable. These new labels can also help our partners to reduce their carbon footprint and introduce them to the sustainable development of RFID products. The new recyclable labels are being used by brands and retailers in hangtags and price labels.
Traditional RFID labels come with an aluminium or copper etched RFID label antenna, an integrated circuit and a polyethylene terephthalate (PET) layer on which the chip and antenna are attached to the tag's paper substrate. That plastic layer provides the label with a higher strength and flexibility and it is completely compatible with the antenna etching process. However, it is not recyclable. What's more, the plastic substrate and label antennas do not degrade, meaning these tags often end up in landfills after they are removed from a product and can have a negative impact on the environment. While the ECO RFID labels are paper-based and have a metallic antenna, but they do not use silver ink. The performance of ECO RFID labels is fully comparable with etched metal antennas.
